Seven Cornerstone Scriptures
On the walls of the Church, there are seven cornerstone Scriptures from the Bible. These key verses are the foundation of the doctrinal beliefs of the Apostolic Church.
Salvation — We believe in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. To experience this, Peter preached on the Day of Pentecost in Acts 2:38, to repent, be baptized in Jesus name and receive the Holy Ghost. To experience His death, we repent; to experience His burial, we are buried with Him in baptism; and to experience His resurrection, we receive the Holy Ghost.
Bible — The Holy Book of God is the foundation for all Truth in the world. It is the only source we have for our beliefs.
Preaching — The preaching of the Cross is essential to salvation and it is by preaching that mankind is brought to God.
Worship — We exalt the Lord with all our hearts. O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph. (Psalm 47:1) I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting. (1 Tim 2:8)
God — He declared in the Old Testament that He is One God (Deut 6:4). When He came as the man, Christ Jesus, He continued to be God. Jesus was fully God, for the fullness of the Godhead dwelt in Him (Col. 2:9). He was fully man that He could be the sacrifice for our sins (1 John 2:2). Jesus is not separate from God. Jesus is God (John 10:30).
Holy Living — The fruits of the Spirit are a necessary part of holy living in the inward man. (Gal 5) Also, we endeavor to reflect the Biblical teaching in our outward appearance. (1 Tim. 2:9)
Prayer — Prayer is the process by which we communicate with God. We know Him through prayer and we make our petitions known. God releases His power to the earth through the prayers of the saints. |
